Every Smarter Contact plan, what a text actually costs at each tier, the fees the pricing page leaves out, and what it works out to per lead, from someone who runs client accounts on it daily.
This guide is the detail behind a service I run for clients. If you would rather hand it over than do it yourself, see SMS Marketing.
Short answer: Smarter Contact's published plans start at $199 a month for 2,500 texts and run to $1,799 a month for 100,000 texts on the Elite Plus tiers, with quarterly billing on the entry plans and a 7-day free trial. Most investors I put on it land between $799 and $1,199 a month, because 20,000 to 50,000 messages is where a single market produces steady leads. The plan fee is roughly half of what the channel really costs you. The rest is data, skip tracing, carrier registration and the person answering replies.
I run client campaigns on Smarter Contact every day and I am one of its recommended partners, so I see the bills from the inside. This page is the breakdown I give investors on a discovery call, written down.
Figures below are Smarter Contact's list prices as published in mid-2026. They change often, and partner links regularly carry better than list rates, so check the current number before you sign up. The arithmetic on this page holds whatever the exact price is. Disclosure: I earn a commission if you sign up through my link. Full disclosure.
| Plan | Monthly price | Texts included | Effective cost per text |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $199 (billed quarterly) | 2,500 | about $0.08 |
| Pro | $399 (billed quarterly) | Pay as you send, from about $0.02 a text | about $0.02 + plan fee |
| Elite | $499 (billed quarterly) | Pay as you send | about $0.02 + plan fee |
| Elite Plus 20K | $799 | 20,000 | $0.040 |
| Elite Plus 50K | $1,199 | 50,000 | $0.024 |
| Elite Plus 75K | $1,499 | 75,000 | $0.020 |
| Elite Plus 100K | $1,799 | 100,000 | $0.018 |
Extra texts above an Elite Plus allowance were listed at $0.013 to $0.015 each, cheaper the higher the tier. Skip tracing inside the platform was listed from $0.10 a hit and dialer minutes from $0.01. There is no free plan, no cancellation fee and no refund on the current period: cancel and you keep access until the billing period ends.
Two things in that table catch people out. First, the Starter plan is the most expensive way to send. At 2,500 texts it works out around eight cents a message, which only makes sense for testing whether you can work replies at all. Second, the per-text price roughly halves between 20,000 and 100,000, but your lead efficiency does not stay flat as you scale. More on that below.
The subscription is the visible cost. These are the ones that arrive afterwards:
Cost per text is the number on the pricing page. Cost per lead is the number that decides whether the channel pays. Across 23.2 million messages on client accounts, my average is 352 messages per lead. Here is what that does to each tier, counting the plan fee only:
| Plan | Monthly fee | Leads at 352:1 | Platform cost per lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elite Plus 20K | $799 | 57 | $14 |
| Elite Plus 50K | $1,199 | 142 | $8.44 |
| Elite Plus 75K | $1,499 | 213 | $7.04 |
| Elite Plus 100K | $1,799 | 284 | $6.33 |
On paper, bigger plans are cheaper per lead. In practice the ratio of messages to leads gets worse as you push more volume into the same market. On one account I run, September sent 36% more messages than August and produced fewer leads: 624 against 833. Messages per lead went from 85 to 155. That account is documented with screenshots in my Smarter Contact review.
The ratio also depends heavily on what you are buying. Land lists in my tracking run at 65 to 200 messages per lead. House lists in a metro where every investor is texting the same owners run at 300 to 600. Before you pick a tier, work out which of those businesses you are in.
A useful test: if you could not handle twice your current reply volume tomorrow, you are not ready for the next tier.
Smarter Contact itself does not ask for one, but the carriers do in effect. Standard 10DLC registration is for a registered business with an EIN, and that is what unlocks normal daily throughput. Sole proprietors can register, but the sole-proprietor route is capped at low volume, far below what a real campaign needs. If you are serious about texting, form the entity and get the EIN before you open the account. It saves a re-registration later.
Launch Control's published plans start higher: Lite at $497 a month for 10,000 messages, Core from $797 for 20,000 and Pro at $1,497 for 50,000. At 20,000 messages the two are within a few dollars of each other. At 50,000, Smarter Contact's list price is about $300 a month lower. Both have their place, and I run clients on each; the full comparison, and when switching is worth it, is in Launch Control vs Smarter Contact.
The plan buys you the engine. Someone still has to build the lists, write and rotate the templates, watch number health and work every reply within minutes. My SMS marketing service does that on top of your own Smarter Contact account, billed weekly after the work is done: 20,000 messages a month is $200 a week and 50,000 is $350 a week. The tool stays in your name, so the numbers, the data and the history are yours if you ever leave.
Tell me your markets and monthly volume and I will tell you which plan fits, what it will cost all in, and roughly how many leads to expect.
